Busy weekend

And I’m paying for it now. Oops. Well worth it though 🙂

So, we went to the Christmas light switch on a couple of days ago and it was really cool! I did take my camera with me but the pictures didn’t come out very well, this is about as good as it got:
The lighting was horrendous. Street lamps are my enemy! It was lovely though and they had a good band playing too 🙂 After all that excitement was over and people moved away we met up with my aunt, uncle and cousin. My cousin decided he’d like to go on one of the rides and asked mum to go with them. Let’s just say my cousin fared better than my mum (much to all of our amusement!) 😀

Yesterday we went to one of the towns near us as they were having a vintage/general Christmassyness (new word) fair. I was a bit disappointed with it, but I think mum and dad enjoyed having the mooch around. We did end up buying a cute little Nutcracker though, which I’m very happy with!

My inner ballet geek is satisfied :)

I probably should’ve spent the evening resting, but instead I ended up wrapping up and searching for presents. There we are!

After a rough night/morning I decided that I needed to spend a lot of today resting. Of course, me being me, I helped dad put up the outside Christmas lights (i.e handed him the lights and generally muttered yes or no in reply to his questions). I loved doing it last year so this year was no different, although my legs are regretting standing up for too long now! I can’t wait for it to be a little darker so they can be put on, they look super pretty on!

So yes, a rather festive weekend and it seems that the weather will join in a bit over this week! 😀 I do love frosty mornings, they’re rather pretty 🙂
See you soon!

PS: Sorry for any mistakes, I’m a bit tired!

That’s the spirit!

So no pictures for this one, as I’ve still not done what I said I would (running theme this year!) but hopefully this post will do!

The Christmas spirit has slowly caught up with me (although I’m not particularly buzzing with excitement, so hopefully I’m safe energy-wise for now) so I’ve been spending time chilling out reading A Christmas Carol (which is quite difficult to read when you’re picturing The Muppets’ version every ten seconds) and generally looking forward to the Christmas light switch on. I’m still on the hunt for some advent chocolate, which I should probably get ready as it is nearly the first of December. Where has the year gone?!

I’ve been being a busy little elf (can you still be classed as an elf if you’re not actually making things? I hope so) buying things for my nearest and dearest, although for some people I still can’t decide on what to get for them. It’s not that they’re fussy or anything, I just cannot decide on whether to go sentimental or jokey. Every year it’s the same and I usually always settle on the same thing, which isn’t particularly helpful. Speaking of which, I do actually need to make one or two gifts . . . Better write that down before I forget.

As I mentioned earlier, it’s the switch on and hopefully I’ll be able to get some good snaps for you, I can’t promise much as I think it’s meant to be pretty cold tomorrow and my hands are already shaking enough without adding coldness to the mix!

What else . . . I think that’s it, actually! I shall hopefully see you this weekend with a bumper post of pictures and general festivities (no promises this time, you know what I’m like).

Normal service to be resumed

It’s been a little while since my last blog post (to which my stats look very sad about). I’ve tried to write several posts but they just haven’t quite felt right, so away they are in never to be posted land. I have a few things to share with you, but due to the nature of some of them (like, say, a theatre trip – which was really bloomin’ awesome) I can’t say much about it. *sighs* Also, because of said activities, I’m exhausted so haven’t been doing much in the way of bloggable things. I know I have a post promised (nearly two months ago I promised that, oh dear), but currently my computer is being fiddled with so I can’t reach the pictures that I need. Once it’s sorted though I’m sure I’ll have a few picture filled posts, especially in the run up to Christmas (I’m thinking of a nice Christmassy decorations tour when I’ve done my rooms).

With that said, I’ll leave you for now! I’m off to read as I’m trying to get the reading bug back!
See you soon!

A trip down memory lane

They’ve changed how you make posts on here and I really don’t like it.

Hello there!

I’m a little bit early with this post because I’m bursting (maybe a slight exaggeration) with excitement, which may result in this post being a little more . . . shoddy, than it should be. This also means that photos aren’t great quality (I just tried taking some on my camera but night-time light and general shakiness results in bad photos), so you get a lovely phone picture instead. Anyway, I have written a few times before that I have been attempting to relearn the violin and well, I’ve managed it.

I have always thought of myself as having multiple ways to express my thoughts, whether it be creative writing, music or (rather badly, I will admit) dancing. Once I lost the ability to do any of that after becoming severely poorly, I had pretty much written off doing any of it again. In fact, I had been so sure I’d never do anything again that I got rid of all of my sheet music and rested my violin on top of the wardrobe where it would never be used again.

Or so I had thought.

When I dug it out last year I thought, at most, I’d learn how to hold it again and that’d be that. This year, however, with falling in love with Middle Earth and the excellent soundtracks by Howard Shore, I promptly decided to have a go at learning it properly. I will tell you this now, learning on a 3/4 violin is a bit tricky, but I managed to learn a bit of In Dreams eventually. Sadly, my very lovely metallic purple violin was causing me more trouble than enjoyment so I decided to go on the hunt for a new one.
I told you it’d be a bad picture.

Isn’t it beautiful? A lovely colour and a lovely sound too. Practise has been much easier, although my poor arms and shoulders don’t quite agree with that. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to get some lessons next year and maybe hopefully find something where I could perform, like I did a while back.

I feel like I have parts of myself back, creative writing and violin. It feels amazing and although I lose focus a lot (which my friends rally me back into focused-ness), it’s worth it. I feel more complete and it’s so nice after so many years of lost hope. I don’t think I can describe to anyone exactly how it feels, but that’s as close as I can get it.

See you soon 🙂

Oh bother . . .

It seems that however many plans I may have, life decides that maybe it’s not such a good idea after all. That annoys me no end. Two days after my last post, I think, I ended up hitting my head super hard and suffered from a mild concussion. That (on top of being exhausted from overdoing it too much) resulted in me not being able to do the things I had hoped to do and made me bed-bound for a few days. *sigh*

I’m a lot better – and more myself – now, which I’m so happy for. Today I felt well enough to go back to my writing and I can’t express how happy it made me to delve into a world that is my second home, even though it’s fictional. I wrote for a little bit and it’s so much more fun writing history than planning it out.

I will (hopefully) be back to the normal blog posts soon, probably after my aunt goes back home (next week) so posts I have planned will be up sometime after that.
See you soon!
