Things go a bit wrong. Oops

Hello there! 😀

I’m a bit of a bad blogger, aren’t I? For that, I’m sorry (I’m also sorry for linking that video. This is what we do in England, take the crap out of our “politicians”). In my defence I have been busy. Well, by busy I mean that after my last post I just sat on the new sofa bed dancing to Rammstein going “I wish I was back at Download :(“. *cough* Then last week I had one of my lovely but weird friends stay up for a few days so I’m absolutely shattered, although I’m doing better than I was on the weekend! Then for the past couple of days I have been skyping relatives as I haven’t really spoken to them properly for a while!

I’m back in a 1940s mood again (apparently one listen to In The Mood and a bit of hand sewing kicks it off again) so I’ve been baking. Let’s just say that I should stick with things I’m (sort of) good at. xD Yesterday I made lovely savoury scones using my trusted Marguerite Patten book. I’ve made the recipe quite a few times and they are lovely with a bit of butter on the top for a light snack. 😀 This is what my first ever batch came out like (They’re supposed to be triangles but my cutting skills aren’t very good. Also it’s a bit blurry. Sorry xD)
Today I decided to tackle cakes. Now, I’ve not really made cakes before, maybe a couple of times when I was younger (I made muffins a few months ago but that’s different, right?) but I don’t remember what I did. The downside to this is that I’m using a recipe from a replica of a 1941/1942 WVS mixed grill recipe book. This is fine, I have no problem with using them as I want to make more 1940s foods. This was the recipe:
It seems quite a nice recipe, easy and simple. No eggs involved (Which is good on two counts. The first being I won’t make a mess (or a more of a mess) everywhere and the second being I won’t poison myself if the cakes don’t cook properly). It was quite easy to make, I think I did everything right, or just about. It doesn’t say what the consistency is supposed to be so it might have been a little drier than it needed to be but we put it in the oven for 15 minutes (after digging out the oven manual and checking what temperature would be right) and they cooked fully for that 15 minutes! Perfect! Or so you would think . . . They look okay (As pretty as they can be when you can’t be bothered to put it all in properly).
Then my dad and I tasted them. Hmm. The only way I could possibly describe it is chocolate flavoured flour. Either I needed way more sugar than I put in or it just was not good. Hmm, won’t be doing that again! Or if I do, I’ll use real chocolate. Well, you can’t say I didn’t try! I’m sorry lovely ladies of the WVS but that was not the nicest tasting cake/muffin/things! Ah well, at least I didn’t bake the cake that needed 8oz of raw grated potato, eh?

On another (less awful tasting) note I’ve been getting into the swing of sewing again. You know that skirt I mentioned ages ago? Well I finished it!
Well, I say finished, I’ve still got to do the hem and sew on the hook and eye but apart from that! xD I really love it and now I’m attempting to make a dress for the “hot weather”. Well, I tried that but now it’s more rainy (although in fairness still quite hot). Hmm. xD

Right, I don’t think I have anything else to say. I’m going to go do . . . Something. Not sure what. Hopefully I’ll update soon. Possibly. No promises. xD

It’s too hot

Howdy there! 😀

Sorry that I haven’t posted in a little while, I was a tinsy bit very tired after Download and now I think I’m growing again. *sigh* xD Hmm where to start, Download I guess!

We went on Saturday 15th June to Download Fest. As we approached you could literally see the festival appear over this massive hill and then you saw a stage and lots of people. It was crazy. You know when you have a bad feeling and your stomach drops? Yeah, that. xD It was relatively quiet going in, which I think was helpful (after seeing an ambulance come from down the Download road. Not the best thing to see when you’re already panicking!).
These were my first views of Download on the Saturday. It was quite busy in the main arena. Thankfully I wasn’t panicking too much!
We went over to the merch store and I – of course – bought a Rammstein top for the next day. I bought the one on the left. 🙂 I love it ❤
Queens of the Stone Age were on (they literally started playing as soon as we arrived) before Iron Maiden and I don’t think they got a very good reaction. There probably was more down in the mosh pit but not at the back. Everyone was waiting for Iron Maiden. 😀 I think QOTSA ended up leaving. Not really sure. All of a sudden we just heard feedback and no one was on stage. Not sure what happened but whatever. xD Here are a few pictures of them:
We had an hour and a bit wait until Iron Maiden. A rain cloud came over us and it was so amusing, everyone’s ponchos came out and we were all sat there like “piss off rain.” it was amazing. :’) We heard a few “ahhhhhhhhhhhhh! Look!” and then the roar came. A bloody Spitfire flew over three times. 😀 As a lover of the 40s I was super happy and the lady behind me giggled at how excited I was. xD I tried to get some footage of it but it wasn’t very good. Shaaaame. 😦 I did manage to get two pictures though 😀
They’re not the best pictures but hey! I was buzzing after that. xD Shortly after, Iron Maiden came on. It was sooo good. Sadly it was quite windy so the sound wasn’t that great from where we were. I think I only got one good picture because I was too busy enjoying Iron Maiden. It was sad that we couldn’t really hear them, we watched the Download Highlights the other day and Bruce made really funny comments but we couldn’t hear it. :/ Oh well. The crowd weren’t that great either which was quite sad! These are the pictures I got from Iron Maiden:
They were good, they played some new songs as well as the old stuff. 🙂 I wasn’t as excited to see them as I was for Rammstein. Shame really. As we all filed out of the main arena Always Look On The Brightside Of Life was playing so everyone was singing it and ahhhh it was awesome!! Also, thank you to the guys and couple that helped us when the mobility scooter broke down. They pushed it up the massive hill and down to the car park. THANK YOU SO MUCH. The way back home was awful, it took us an hour just to get out of the car park. Along with a headache and having been out for over 6 hours it was not a fun journey home. Definitely worth it though. 😀
The next day we were all quite tired so we just chilled out a lot until about 3pm when we decided we should probably get organised to get back on the road again. When we got there it was heaving. The hill up to the main arena was packed, which wasn’t good as I was having a bit of a panic attack due to being ridiculously excited for Rammstein. ;D We eventually got to the disabled platform, just as 30 Seconds To Mars came on. Jared Leto scared the shit out of us. *shakes fist* xD The sound was much better on the Sunday, thank whoever for that. I don’t really like 30STM so it was kind of lost on me but the crowd were a bit more lively than the day before. I got a few pictures of them (some of these are on my phone so apologies for bad quality):
They were alright, I guess. xD Jared kept saying he loved us, even though they weren’t getting much of a reaction xD Then came the wait for Rammstein. One of mum’s friend’s said hi to us but I wouldn’t go over for fear of missing Rammstein (even though they were a long way off coming on) and losing the best place ever to see them. We could hear Rammstein testing their instruments and oh my I think I very nearly exploded with squeals. xD We also heard a “von, two. Von, two”. FREAKING AWESOME. We also heard one of the guitarists being very chuggy. ;D It was amazing. *fangirls* About ten minutes before they came on people were going down the zipwire and some metalheads threw up bottles each time they passed. It was very amusing but I was too busy preparing myself for Rammstein’s entrance. I was not going to miss it. xD Everyone went “oooooooh!” and the curtain went down. Very exciting.
My dad took this last picture of Rammstein. I was too busy headbanging and my hands were shaking so I couldn’t get good enough ones.
We managed to record their entrance and Du Hast. Ahhhhh it was just such an amazing experience. So worth all this tiredness afterwards. This guy sat next to us and moshed all the way through, even ending up making me wobble in the wheelchair due to how fast he was moving his body. TO THAT GUY ON THE DISABLED PLATFORM YOU WERE AWESOME. Yes. *cough* I loved Download xD Someone tripped over me and hurt my leg, damn being in the wheelchair. xD Ah well, he did apologise and looked embarrassed. Also yet another thank you to the guy that helped me over the gravel and got us to the tarmac. He said I was in safe hands yet said he might drop his side of the wheelchair as he wasn’t very good at it. ;D Charming. They were a very helpful lot there. I am very grateful. 🙂
After we’d got onto the tarmac and going towards the car park we heard singing. People behind us were singing Tribute by Tenacious D and I think that was even better than on the Saturday when we were singing. It was the most amazing thing ever, we all had so much singing a long, even if we didn’t know most of the words. xD When we actually got to the car park some guys were singing and when they were done they got a round of applause and cheers. Very amusing. 😀 Thankfully the journey home was a lot better than the Saturday so for that I was very happy. 😀 Also, I learnt that toilets, heating and beds are very underrated. That was one of the best feelings, to come back home to all of that. 😀
I still can’t really believe that I went to Download. I think it is one of those things that I will never forget and I am so glad I got the chance to go. 😀 I still have my Download permission wristband thing on, I’ll be sad when I need to take it off!

Since then I’ve been mainly sat on the bed in the spare room, listening to music, playing Animal Crossing and watching The Mighty Boosh, Noel Fielding’s Luxury Comedy and A Field In England.
Towards the end of last week it’s become very hot in England. Where I live it’s been hitting 26/27/28 degrees c. Not fun at all. Today it’s quite cool but the past few days have been awful. Being British I had to complain about the weather at some point in this post. ;D Very, very hot. I’m not used to dealing with this sort of weather, although it has been nice to have barbecues so that’s lovely. 🙂

On that note, I shall leave you to what you were doing. Enjoy the weather, wherever you are. Even if it’s raining. Rain can be fun, I guess. xD
